Introduction
USE OF ADVANCED TOOLS IN AN EASY & ECONOMIC WAY

The use of internet based tools as a support to traditional methods for design and prediction in the building sector will reduce costs, while increasing the market value of the end product. STEDI aims at reaching these benefits by providing all the advantages of the ASP (Application Service Provider) models: the easy, low cost and safe access to complex thermal simulation applications, without the need for purchasing expensive software nor maintaining a technical staff.

RESULTS OF THERMAL PERFORMANCE SIMULATIONS VIA WEB

The STEDI project adapts two thermal simulation codes, a dynamic transient calculator (TRNSYS) and a CFD module (FAVENT), and creates a new web platform which will allow the user to predict the following thermal performance indicators of a building:

    - Temperature and air velocity distribution
    - Comfort Value distribution
    - Heating & Cooling Loads
    - Influence of the shape and the building fabrics in the energy demand

Furthermore, STEDI can read most of the design files of the commercial CAD applications. Alternatively, the building design can be directly introduced by the user by means of the user friendly graphical browser (GiD)
