Management of water resources in Europe is now under pressure, and these pressures are likely to be increased by climate change as flood hazard is likely to increase across much of Europe. The RAMFLOOD project (DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR RISK ASSESSMENT AND MANAGEMENT OF FLOODS) will combine advanced information technologies with advanced methods for collecting, processing and managing hydro-geological data, qualitative methods based on simplified models and more complex computer simulation models, graphical visualization methods and artificial intelligence techniques, in order to provide comprehensive support so as to improve the process and outcome of decision making in flood management and risk assessment during the different stages of planning, flood fighting and post flood recovery.
