SCIENTIFIC / PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Gaia Di Carluccio is a Civil Engineer with an emphasis in Geomechanics & Geotechnical Engineering. In 2015, she obtained the MSc in Structural and Geotechnical Engineering with honour at the University of Naples “Federico II” (Italy) with a dissertation on “Piles as heat exchangers in systems with low enthalpy”. After her Master, she started a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia under the supervision of Prof. Eduardo Alonso and Dr. Núria Pinyol.
Her research involves the numerical modelling of geotechnical problems with the “Material Point Method" with a focus on soil liquefaction by using advanced constitutive models.
