Julio Marti obtained a PhD. degree in Engineering (specialization: Computational Mechanics) from Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Argentina in 2008 under the supervisión of Prof. Sergio Idelsohn. Dr. Marti joined CIMNE in 2008 as post-doc reseracher and since 2011 he has been working as an associate Professor at the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña.
During these years, he has been actively doing research on different topics. Simulation of multi-fluid and fluid-structure interaction using Lagrangian and Eulerian formulation, enrichment methods, thermo-mechanical analysis and high performance computing are his major research topics. He is collaborating with Bundesanstalt fur Materialforschung und prufung (BAM, Germany) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST, USA) in the development of a computational model for fire growth and spread in thermoplastic objects.
In addition to the mentioned research activities, Julio Marti has been participating in various European and international projects. He has been one of the main researchers in “REALTIME Project” developing an innovative method for time integration of incompressible Navier-Stokes equations allowing for very large time steps. He has also been actively participating in developing numerical formulations for other projects supported by European Union.
