Joaquín Irazábal awarded his PhD Thesis
In October 6th, 2017, Dr. Joaquín Irazábal has been awarded his PhD by the UPC·Barcelona Tech. Dr. Irazábal carried out his thesis within the Structural Analysis Programme, entitled “Numerical analysis of railway ballast behaviour using the Discrete Element Method”. The PhD Thesis was conducted under the supervision of CIMNE’s Full Research Professor Eugenio Oñate and has obtained a qualification of Excellent Cum Laude.
The exam committee was composed by Prof. Juan Miquel Canet (CIMNE/UPC), Prof. Jerzy Rojek (Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Warsaw, Poland) and Prof. Juan Manuel Estradé (ADIF, Spain).
