Professors Carlos A. Felippa and Jacques Périaux will be staying at CIMNE as visitors.

Carlos A. Felippa, Professor of Aerospace Engineering Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder, will work during May-June 2016 with the Structural Mechanics Group on new Lagrangian particle-based method for fluid-structure interaction problems. His research at Colorado concerns aerospace structures and structural analysis, with special interests in coupled field problems: elastoacoustics, aeroelasticity, control-structure interaction, thermomechanics and electrothermomechanics. During his stay, Prof. Felippa will give the seminar entitled "Unification of Geometrically Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Solids and Structures" at CIMNE to promote the transfer of the knowledge among scientists.

Jacques Périaux will work jointly with the Aerospace Engineering Group on application methods in aeronautics during a week in May 2016. His research interests include Parallel Evolutionary Computing, Game Strategies and Hybridized Methods for Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) problems and the Greening of Aircraft and UAVs Systems. Prof. Périaux hods the UNESCO Chair on Numerical Methods in Engineering at CIMNE from 2009. In 2010, he received in Beijing the National Award from Foreign Affairs for long cooperation with China and was elected, in 2011, a Corresponding member of the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA).
