Abstract A high temperature superconductor (HTS) is a material that reaches the superconductor state at temperatures above the liquid nitrogen boiling temperature of 77K. Its resistance-free characteristics at high temperatures make it an ideal choice for the efficient generation of high magnetic fields as the ones used in nuclear fusion reactors or high resolution MRI. They can also make possible the development of, for instance, highly efficient AC/DC superconductor cables and small, efficient and light-weighted electric generators. In all of the above applications, a quantitative knowledge of the magnetic field, current density, temperature, heat generation, and mechanical stresses is essential for the design of HTS devices. Moreover, due to the strong non-linearity, multi-scale and multiphysics nature of the problem, a high performance computing (HPC) tool is required. In this proposal, an HPC software is customized to solve the design problems proposed by the company OXOLUTIA. This SME intends to improve its HTS products thanks to a faster virtual prototyping facilitated by an HPC tool adapted to the cloud infrastructure.
