The International Centre for Numerical Methods in Engineering, CIMNE, has just published its Annual Report 2017. In this publication the research centre presents its structure, its budget, its research lines and also explains how has commemorated its 30th anniversary during 2017.
Also, this report serves to taking stock of achievements of the year. The Vicepresident and Director of CIMNE, Eugenio Oñate, highlights in the editorial: “On December 2017 CIMNE was incorporated under the auspices of the Department of Territory and Sustainability (DTES) of the Catalonian Government. This circumstance will strengthen the research activities of CIMNE of interest to the civil and environmental engineering sector with a focus on applications to predictive territory management, smart infrastructures, water resources, energy efficiency, transport and mobility and environmental quality". Oñate explains also the financial model of the centre: "CIMNE has implemented an (almost) self-sustainable financial model with limited annual public funding".
