The XV International Conference on Computational Plasticity (COMPLAS 2019) was held in Barcelona on 3-5 September 2019.
The conference attracted over 400 participants from 38 different countries worldwide. The focus of the conference was to present advances in classical numerical methods, such as the Finite Element method (FEM) and innovative particle-based and discrete element methods and data mining procedures for solving problems of interest on the following practical fields: industrial forming processes, computational material design, geomechanics, biomechanics, composites, steel, concrete and masonry structures, among others.
As it is classical in the COMPLAS conference series, the conference was preceded by a course on Computational Plasticity that attracted some 50 international students.
The COMPLAS conference series is a joint initiative of researchers of CIMNE, the University of Swansea (Wales, UK) and the Technical University of Catalonia. The conference co-Chairs were Profs. Eugenio Oñate and Michele Chiumenti (CIMNE/UPC) and Profs. Roger Owen, George Peric and Eduardo de Souza (University of Swansea).
The previous fourteen conferences of the series were also held in Barcelona in April 1987, September 1989, April 1992, April 1995, March 1997, September 2000, April 2003 and September 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017.
