Functions to be developed:

  1. To ensure the completion of CIMNE’s tasks in the project “SKOP. Beyond the limits of Climate Intelligence”, approved for funding under the ESA-IEEC Phi-LabNET open call.
  2. To develop software code to automatically download satellite observations of wind, temperature, irradiance, topography, orography and land use at a global scale, amongst others.
  3. To prepare the data to be fed into a platform that uses deep learning technologies. That will ultimately serve to train a model combining satellite observation data with recalculation data from ERA5 and several weather stations.
  4. To research on the state of the art for manipulations/transformations of the earth observation data in order to provide more sophisticated derived measurements on variables that are relevant to renewable energy production.

 

Required skills:

  • Academic degree: PhD
  • Programming in Python
  • Programming in other computer languages is also valued
  • Knowledge on the Copernicus Program and the different Earth Observation Missions by ESA and other Space Agencies
  • Knowledge on the Destination Earth Initiative

 

Other valued skills (not mandatory):

  • Scientific publications (Journal papers, Patents, etc.)
  • Experience in research projects

 

 

 

Qualification system:

The requisites and merits will be evaluated with a maximum note of 100 points. Such maximal note will be obtained summing up the following points:

  • Academic qualifications: 20%
  • Training and development: 20%
  • Professional experience: 20%
  • Knowledge of the Catalan language: 10%
  • Knowledge of the English language: 10%
  • Selective tests and interview: 20%
