We will present results related to the estimation from cardiovascular model parameters, i.e. boundary conditions and mechanical properties, based (mainly) on velocity-encoded MRI measurements, including the consideration of imaging artifacts. We will review MRI basics, challenges, and solutions in a comprehensive manner.
Prof. Cristóbal Bertoglio is the Chair of Data-Driven Mathematical Modelling at the Bernoulli Institute of the University of Groningen. Originally from Chile, he obtained his master's in computational mechanics there, followed by a PhD in Applied Mathematics at INRIA, France, and a postdoc at TU Munich. His team's research combines developments in numerical fluid mechanics, fluid-structure interaction, inverse problems, magnetic resonance imaging, and their integration. They are also running several projects to translate mathematical models into clinical research and practice, in close collaboration with the University Medical Center in Groningen.
