Transverse steel beams fixed to the ends of the compression element for the anchoring and connection of the tension element, as well as for the reactions transfer to the ground.
Tension element
For the first time air-beam prototype a Dyneema® sling has been adopted; extremely light, characterized by a very high tensile strength and a very low elongation.
Compression element and bridge deck
Formed by fiber-reinforced pultured panels and profiles (FRP), a mixture of fibers and resins, glued together forming a ribbed panel of of 160mm thick and 300mm wide. The strength to weight ratio is very high in the direction of pultrusion.
Inflatable element
Consists of two layers of PVC coated fabrics.
The interiorchamber is air-tight with a thickness of 0.65mm, while the outer confers resistance with a thickness of 1.05mm. A third layer of the same outer fabric is used to fix the tube to the bridge deck.
