   Objectives

This project is going to address this need by means of the following scientific and technical objectives:

1- To develop a new methodology for the sustainable design and construction of industrialised cellular buildings. This methodology will adapt two user friendly software:

    a. STEDI, which is a software for web-computing able to analyse building's energy performance.
    b. E-green supply chain management software, which is conceived as a sustainable and 'best value development'

2- To develop, construct and test the following pre-engineered and integrated energy systems:

    a. Solar thermal system for producing domestic hot water and heating. It will be designed in order to be fully integrated, which will include integration of other components of the solar system as heat exchangers and regulation systems. In the demonstration building of UK, up to 140 m2 will be installed and up to 145 m2 will be installed in the Spanish proposed building.
    b. Photo voltaic system for producing green electricity. It will be also designed in order to be fully integrated. The system would integrate small inverters into the building technology and these would be directly joined to the PV modules. The technology that will be considered is thin film PV . In the demonstration building of UK, up to 28 KWp will be installed and up to 34 KWp will be installed in the Spanish proposed building.
    c. Energy-efficient space heating and natural cooling systems.

3- To increase thermal resistance and air tightness of the pre-engineered building's envelope, including the windows, walls, foundation, ceiling, roof, and insulation.

4- To design a hybrid system which would integrate the thin film PV, solar thermal collectors, a centralised boiler and Micro Combined Heat and Power system (CHP).

To carry out a serious social research into: habitability requirements, socio-culture requirements, procurement and a diffusion campaign that will convince the user that industrializing modular systems will provide more comfort, and environmental care.
